Histori

Pendirian

Founded in Stockholm in 1967 by three friends - Rolf Lind Sweden and GÃÆ'¶te Huss and Jerry O'Sheets - Marc O'Polo's first collection is a patchwork shirt of Indian cotton. Facing contemporary trends toward synthetic clothing, the company's eternal preference for natural ingredients is largely determined in its first advertising campaign that exhibits a single and organic motif: one strawberry.

The young label experienced significant success in 1972 with the introduction of cotton-logo print t-shirts and the launch of unisex shirts. After featuring a complete collection of women's and men's clothing since 1975, in 1983 Marc O'Polo created two seasonal collections, eight per year. The first Marc O'Polo store opened in Dusseldorf in 1979.

Expansion

In 1997 the company's original distribution partner for Germany, Werner BÃÆ'¶ck, expanded its shareholding and formed Marc O'Polo International GmbH, which is currently responsible for all company operations ranging from design and production to distribution and marketing. That same year Marc O'Polo moved his headquarters from Stockholm to Stephanskirchen in the Rosenheim district, south of Munich.

With its new headquarters and centralized warehouse in southern Bavaria to supply its customers, Marc O'Polo began further diversification of its products, offering leather bags and leather goods from 1997 and launching swimwear and children's collections from 1998. In the year 2003, a flagship store of Marc O'Polo with floor area of 900 square meters opened at Theatinerstrasse Munich and the company launched its online store. In 2007, Marc O'Polo supplied more than 1,000 stores and retailers of international partners. That year, at the time of its 40th anniversary, the company launched a collection of 'from 67' to benefit the UNICEF Schools for Africa program.

Since 2008, and the opening of the first Marc O'Polo shop in Asia (at Singapore Changi Airport), the company continues to invest in international expansion. The first Marc O'Polo store in China opened in 2014. Today, the company supplies more than 2,500 stores and retail partners in more than 30 countries.
