Pants are pants that sit low, or below, hips, usually at least 8 centimeters (3 inches) lower than the navel. They are also called "lowcut jeans", "hipster jeans", and "lowriders". Low-rise pants have been available since the 1900s, in style for men and women, with increasing popularity in the 2000s.

Terminology

The "increment" of any underwear is determined by the distance between the groin and the waist and is usually about 30 cm (12 inches) in regular pants. For comparison, the average measurement of the low pants is about 20 cm (8 inches), with some only 7-10 cm (3-4 inches). Some brands of jeans also reflect the rise on the zipper, creating pants with zippers much shorter than regular pants, usually between 5 and 7 cm (2-3 inches), and some manufacturers, such as Dorinha Jeans Wear, even provide 2.5 cm ( 1 inch) zipper. The latter can also be classified as "ultra low rise jeans", and small zips no longer have traditional functions, but rather a fashion look.

History

Hip-huggers, the predecessor to the pants, rose to popularity during the mid-1960s because of the mod subculture, and finally by hippies in the late 1960s. Often worn with lightweight cotton, paisley-printed tops or nehru-collared jackets, hip-huggers necked bell is popularized by rock icons like Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, and Robert Plant. Then, hip-huggers became a staple of popular culture and incorporated into discos of the 1970s.

During the late 1970s and early 1980s, however, waistlines moved higher when wide, blazing, the bell base gradually gave way to the designers of straight-leg jeans. Throughout the 1980s and into the 1990s, as more women entered the company's workforce, high waist design remained dominant, with commercial designers such as Gloria Vanderbilt and Calvin Klein on the front lines.

The 1990s rise in low-rise jeans can be credited to British fashion designer Alexander McQueen, who first showed off his famous "bumster" pants in his 1996 "Taxi Driver" collection. One commentator observed: "The bumster for me is what McQueen defines, for me it's the look that puts him on the map because it's controversial. The little bumsters were in his first show, it's like 20 people in England who wore it.. "Following McQueen's instructions, the pantyhole mode gradually increased. The iconic low-rise mode appeared in 2000, especially among the youth; Britney Spears is most credited with popularizing fashion in the US after she started wearing it that same year. Although its popularity is also increasing among women and men at other ages, the main focus of advertising is still on teenage girls and boys, with teenage stores selling low-end jeans in different styles and colors. Most American teenagers and twenty-something retail stores carrying jeans (eg, Guess, American Eagle, Abercrombie & Fitch, Stitches) alone or mostly carry low-level jeans.

Styles

Low-rise jeans are produced in many styles, including boot-cut, flared, loose, straight, baggy, skinny, boyfriend, and slim. Due to the popularity of low-rise jeans, manufacturers are also starting to make low-rise styles from other types of pants, such as cargo pants and trousers.

Low-rise jeans can be used to show more skin on the waist, chest, and hips. As such, they are sometimes used in combination with plant tops, giving a glimpse of the skin between jeans and upper, or (more often in summer or in warmer countries) showing their entire hearts including the navel. From 2001 to 2007, the low rise style often reveals the thong or G-string beneath it, but after 2007 it is unlikable and the ropes begin to decline. When the user sits or bends forward, sometimes the cleavage is visible. When a thong is open on a pair of low-rise jeans on the back, it is often referred to as a whale tail, due to its somewhat similar shape. When the boxer pants become visible this is known as "sagging". Because underwear is no longer always hidden, more men and women choose underwear to work with low-level jeans.

Prohibited experiment in US

State Legislator Derrick Shepherd of the state of Louisiana in the US made efforts in 2004 to ban low-end jeans, especially to stop the underwear look under his pants, claiming it was rude and indecent. People who are seen with "whales" or "boxers show" they will be fined $ 500 if the bill becomes legal. The bill, HB 1703, was rejected by the Louisiana Representative Council.

Bills across the same state were rejected in February 2005 in Virginia, and will be fined $ 50 for anyone who intentionally exhibits their underwear.

Medical issues

In the Canadian Medical Association Journal 2003, Dr. Malvinder S. Parmar showed that wearing low tight jeans can put pressure on the sensory nerves, the lateral skin of the thighs, which can cause pain and paresthesia in the nerve area. distribution. This is known as meralgia paresthetica and is associated with a tingling or burning sensation in the lateral aspect of the thigh. This condition is diagnosed in three fat women who have been wearing low-rise jeans for 6-8 months. These conditions heal by themselves after they avoid wearing low-rise jeans for 4-6 weeks.
