A dhurrie (also dhurri or durrie or durry ) is a plain flat woven carpet or carpet that is traditionally used in India as floor covering.

The dhurrie concept is slightly different from carpets or carpets, as they are used for bedding or packaging, not just as floor coverings. But since dhurries serve the same purpose as carpets or carpets they can be described as one.

Usage

And in various combinations of all these ingredients. This material is first converted into yarn and then woven into dhurries.

Manufacturing

Dhur is made manually by skilled craftsmen in traditional horizontal looms or vertical looms.

In Rajasthan pit weaving is also used to weave where weavers sit in the pit and legs are used in weaving. Maximum area is 24 ".

Madhya Pradesh dhur is known for his strong character and pleasing colors. Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh, making different types of dhurries. In some parts of the state, dhur makes some of the dowry given at the wedding of a girl.

Some important centers of durrie manufacture in pre-independence Punjab are now in Pakistan; however, in present-day Punjab, the area around Ludhiana, Faridkot, and Bhatinda is quite productive and well known.

Dhurries made in Rajasthan in Salawas are known as Panja dhurries and are exported on a large scale. Khairabad in Uttar Pradesh is a major dhurrie making center. Citapore Rugs (Sitapur dhurries) are made here based on flat weave techniques using horizontal looms. In addition to cotton, hemp, rayon and chennile dhurries are also made here and exported worldwide. IKEA and Agocha have purchased dhurries for their stores from this area.

Dhurries are also made at Navalgund Taluk from the state of Karnataka in India. It has a graphical geo tag for Durry, Navalgund Durries known as Jamkhana in the local Kannada language.
