Overview

History

This product was designed and manufactured by fashion designer Madeleine Shaw in 1993. Shaw wrote the first business plan for Lunapads in 1994, and in 1995 opened a small shop and production facility. In 1999, he met Suzanne Siemens, an accountant, in a community leadership course. Sharing a similar business vision, they combine their skills to develop Lunapads as an international company.

Description

Lunapad is the menstrual cushioning of the ship's style fabric above as opposed to the more common "envelope" style. The bearings have two parts; The Base Pad that goes around the wearer's underpants and Liner Insert is inserted under two bands at both ends of the pad. Each pad consists of two basic layers of 100% cotton flannel on top with a central pad made of one nylon layer and two layers of 100% cotton fur with bands at both ends to hold the liner.

Liner Inserts are 2 layer of 100% cotton fur. This liner-on-top design allows the user to replace the used liner with a new one, while still using the same base or pantyhose.

Lunapanties are clothing in periods, which are designed to function on their own as a menstrual product. A 100-inch long panel of cotton fur is sewn permanently into the gusset, with cotton tape on each end to hold the liner inserts. Lunapanties are most often regarded as menstrual products, but also used as maternity clothing (before delivery and postpartum), and are used by those with mild or stress incontinence.
